Manzanar National Historic Site

It was really hot in Los Angeles the other day- pushing into the upper 90s. I thought this would be a good excuse to get out of town and make my way up into the mountains. Those of you who know me understand it doesn’t take much really. I’d been meaning to go see this for some time now. Manzanar is one of the detainment camps for Japanese US citizens back during the second world war. More than 110,000 people were taken from their homes and housed this and other camps around the country from 1942-1945. The area is beautiful but it is harsh terrain. There’s always a wind blowing. Quite hot and dry in the summer and bitterly cold in the winter.
